Handcrafted Root Wood Sculpture — One-of-a-Kind Folk Art
The sculpture is made from a piece of natural root that has been cleaned and varnished. A glossy varnish was used, which emphasizes the complex texture, veins, natural cavities and warm brown color of the wood.
The main figure has a distinctly organic silhouette with numerous openings, twists and growths. In the right part, the curve strongly resembles the silhouette of a horse's head and neck or a mythical creature (for example, a dragon). The growths in the left part resemble limbs or claws, which seem to wrap around the base. This gives the work a strong dynamism and a sense of movement.
The figure is mounted on a stable wooden base, made from a piece of longitudinally cut wood with a well-defined texture and a light, warm color.
